Project Description

Exterior 1

With beginnings in the meat packing industry, the Client wanted a cost-effective building with the capability of expansion.  The simple rectangular original building was added onto twice as the business grew.

At its completion, the building consisted of approximately equal areas of private and open office space, research laboratory space and pilot plant production space.

Brick and limestone were chosen as exterior wall materials for their low maintenance and attractive appearance.

Large expanses of aluminum framed windows opened up the office spaces to the panoramic park settings, including the park's storm detention pond to the east of the building.

Simple materials were also incorporated into the no-nonsense interior.  Painted metal door frames, oak doors, acoustical ceilings and carpeting were the materials of choice.

After occupying the facility for more than fifteen years, the Client moved operations out of town.  The ISU Research Park Corporation purchased the building and a major portion of the building interior was remodeled in 2007 for the ISU Nutrition and Wellness Research Center.  The remainder of the building is leased to multiple tenants.
